Zimmer Knee Implants

In 2003, Zimmer Holdings, Inc. introduced the NexGen CR-Flex Fixed Bearing Knee, a knee-replacement system designed to provide a greater range of motion for recipients. Zimmer subsequently developed different versions of the NexGen high-flex knees, including: a cemented version (which uses an adhesive to connect the thigh bone to the device) and a cement-less version (which bonds by natural bone ingrowths).

Although the NexGen high-flex knee models were designed to last approximately 15 years, Zimmer has come under scrutiny the last few years due to higher-than-normal rates of loosening and failure in certain high-flex femoral components.
